Luciano Cismondi
Engineering → Product → Leadership

I help businesses and manufacturers define, develop and improve products. I connect business needs with product decisions and the engineering required to make them happen.

// THE STARTING POINT

Before development,
decide
what is worth building.

What problem does it solve? What architecture does it need? How much investment will it take? And how can it evolve? I connect these questions with the engineering needed to turn an opportunity into a product.

01 / BUSINESS

Is it worth the investment?

Value, investment and risk to decide where to focus resources.

02 / PRODUCT

What should we build?

The user's problem, requirements and product priorities.

03 / TECHNOLOGY

How do we make it viable?

An architecture that accounts for development, manufacturing, maintenance and future improvements.

// WHERE I CAN HELP

// FROM BUSINESS TO ENGINEERING

THE WHOLE PICTURE.
CLEAR DECISIONS.

My involvement can begin at any of these stages, depending on the project's progress and needs.

  1. 01 / UNDERSTAND

Business, users, market, constraints and goals.

  2. 02 / DEFINE

Product, requirements, alternatives and technology strategy.

  3. 03 / DESIGN

Hardware, software, communications, control and integration.

  4. 04 / DEVELOP

    Prototypes, validation and coordination.

  5. 05 / INDUSTRIALIZE

Costs, manufacturing, certification, suppliers and ongoing development.

// FOUR LAYERS · ONE COMPLETE VIEW

STRATEGIC
THINKING.
TECHNICAL
DEPTH.

Every product decision connects these four layers. My role is to keep that relationship clear, from investment to implementation.

01 Business
Feasibility, investment, risk and strategy.
02 Product
Requirements, roadmap, user experience and costs.
03 System
Architecture, integration, communications and control.
04 Engineering
Hardware, firmware, software and electronics.

Business decisions guide engineering. What engineering reveals also informs business decisions.

HVAC controls case study

01 / HVAC · PRODUCT AND OPERATIONS

RENEW THE PRODUCT.
TRANSFORM HOW
IT IS BUILT.

Renewing controls, digital fabrication, processes and the team. Working directly with a manufacturer's leadership to connect product development and operations.

Responsibilities, decisions and outcomes
Context
A manufacturing business with slow growth and a product range and infrastructure in need of renewal.
Challenge
Modernize HVAC controls and development and production tools, coordinating products, facilities and the team.
My role
Working directly with management and leading the renewal of products, infrastructure and processes.
Actions
Renew the thermostat range and introduce in-house prototyping, standardized processes and new production tools.
Architecture
Integrating electronics and touch or capacitive interfaces with product design, prototypes and injection molds.
Outcome
Renewed the range with touchscreens, larger LCDs and backlit capacitive buttons. Created a digital fabrication workshop with 3D printing, laser cutting and UV printing.
Learning and impact
Completely refurbished the warehouse with coded storage locations, modernized production tools and strengthened the team to help new staff learn.

02 / REFRIGERATION · PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

FROM THE FIRST
PROTOTYPE TO
PRODUCTION.

Co-founding and leading the technology behind a beverage-cooling product: prototyping, validation, early funding rounds and international industrialization.

Responsibilities, decisions and outcomes
Context
Packaged beverage consumption in retail and public spaces.
Challenge
Combine rapid cooling and the right drinking temperature with efficient energy use.
My role
Co-founder and CTO: built the prototype from scratch, validated the concept and contributed to funding and market research.
Actions
Connect technical development with early funding rounds, research and market testing to move toward industrial production.
Architecture
Integrating hardware, control, mechanics and AI to cool packaged beverages.
Outcome
Validated the concept and took development through to international industrialization during my involvement.
Learning and impact
The foundations established during development supported the product's subsequent expansion into international markets.

// TECHNICAL AND FINANCIAL JUDGMENT

Building also means
deciding where to invest.

My education in project evaluation complements my engineering and product experience: feasibility, investment and risk are parts of the same decision.

A career combining technical development, product decisions and team coordination, including experience as a co-founder and CTO.
